Lower East Side (NYC) Language Marathon
Celebrate International Mother Language Day by joining the Endangered Language Alliance at University Settlement on Manhattan’s Lower East Side for a no-holds-barred language marathon, featuring speakers of languages of over a dozen languages originally from Pakistan, Mexico, Indonesia, and elsewhere, all now spoken in NYC.
The stage is also open to anyone and everyone who would like to share a few words of their mother tongue: just drop us a line through Facebook or at info@elalliance.org telling us about what you’d like to present.
Donations are appreciated, but everyone is welcome. We’ll also have a special sale going, with unique ELA t-shirts and ELA’s Queens language maps both going for just $10 — and possibly a sneak preview of our brand-new NYC language map, featuring over 600 languages spoken in the city!
