Norf’k Language Display-Norfolk Island Museums
NORFOLK ISLAND MUSEUM – PIER STORE
The Norfolk Island Pier Store Museum has a display of the Norf’k language as part of the exhibitions in the Pier Store Museum. This includes a comfortable reading nook for people to sit and read about the Norf’k language in a variety of mediums (children’s books, dictionaries and non-fiction books), or listen to oral history interviews recorded in the Norf’k language. Background music of popular Hymns of Norfolk and Pitcairn, sung by the Choir of St Barnabas’ Chapel, are also played at the Pier Store Museum.
The Pier Store Museum also has on display oral history interviews and a demonstration of rope tying in the Norf’k language for the new cattle exhibition at the Royal Engineers Office Museum. Norf’k language dictionaries and stories written in Norf’k are also for sale in the Norfolk Island Museums and Research Centre.
