Postal Issue named “2019, International Year of Indigenous Languages”

On November, Th 27th, CorreosChile is going to issue a stamp, a FDC and a special cancellation to commemorate this important event.

The stamp shows the map of Chile, that merges in the background with the acoustic waveform of the word “Chile”. The colors of this wave reflect the temperatures that characterize our country, from the hot Chilean north to our icy Antarctic territory. In the middle, there is a multicolored ring, formed by repeated symbols of communication, representing the various indigenous languages. On the right side, three ethnic symbologies of some of our native peoples are distinguished: the Chakana, two Tangata Manu and the Meli Witran Mapu, characteristic of the northern zone , the central island zone of Rapa Nui and the southern zone, respectively.
