YAKAP: Baybayin Lecture and Workshop
YAKAP: Baybayin Lecture & Workshop. During the YAKAP (tagalog for embrace) Outreach, a Baybayin Lecture & Workshop was held to educate the underserved children in the village of Masidem in the municipality of Bani, Pangasinan, Philippines, the pre-Hispanic writing called Baybayin. Baybayin is the indigenous writing of the native Filipinos prior to the romanization of the Filipino languages due to the Spanish colonization around the year 1600. Baybayin is currently being revitalized in the Philippines by advocates and some members of the government through the House Bill No. 1022 and Senate Bill 433.
