Los países de América Latina y el Caribe, junto con
la UNESCO, lanzan un
Festival de Cine Indígena en Línea (OIFF)
en el marco del
Año Internacional de las Lenguas Indígenas 2019
(AIL2019)
y de la próxima
Semana de América Latina y el Caribe
, que se llevará a cabo del 3 al 7 de junio de 2019
en la Sede de la UNESCO (París, Francia).
De conformidad con los principales objetivos del Año Internacional de las Lenguas Indígenas 2019, la iniciativa del OIFF tiene como objetivo sensibilizar a la opinión pública sobre la importancia que tienen las lenguas indígenas en el desarrollo sostenible, la consolidación de la paz y la reconciliación.
La región de América Latina y el Caribe es cultural y lingüísticamente diversa. Las lenguas indígenas le aportan a los hablantes un conjunto de competencias y conocimientos inestimables en diferentes ámbitos, lo que les permite participar en el desarrollo constructivo, dinámico y creativo de la sociedad. Tienen el potencial de beneficiar no sólo a las poblaciones locales, sino también a la humanidad entera.
Con motivo de la celebración de la Semana de América Latina y el Caribe 2019 , durante dos semanas ( 3-14 de junio de 2019 ), se difundirán más de 80 películas de cineastas profesionales de Argentina, Bolivia, Brasil, Colombia, Chile, El Salvador, México y Perú sobre las lenguas indígenas y su papel para garantizar la inclusión social, el acceso a la educación y la protección del medio ambiente. Las películas estarán disponibles en español y en lenguas indígenas habladas en la región de América Latina y el Caribe, como Damana (Pueblo wiwa), Kamëntsá, Awápit, Namtrik (Pueblo Misak), Nasa yuwe, Mojeño Ignaciano, Chacobo, Chiquitano, Kalapalo, Matlatzinca, Tojolabal, Tojono, Otomí, Waorani, Movima, Machineri, Cavineño, Huasteco, Yaqui, Tseltal, Huichol, Qhas Qut Suñi Urus, Uru Chipaya, Moré, Tsimane, Ch’ol, Mayo, Purépecha, Seri, Cucapá, Weenhayek, Náhuatl, Nasa yuwe, Guaraní, Mosenten Beni, Kayabi/Kawaiwete, Millcayac, Matapi, Tinigua, Tehuelche, Guaná, Chaná, Uru uchumataqu, Tapiete, Awajún, Quechua, Amahuaca, Taushiro, Español, y otros idiomas indígenas incluyendo subtítulos en Inglés y en Español. La iniciativa del OIFF tiene como objetivo sensibilizar sobre la importancia de las lenguas indígenas para el desarrollo sostenible, la consolidación de la paz y la reconciliación.
Cada día se estrenarán entre 10 y 15 películas, de diferentes duraciones, según un calendario organizado en torno a áreas temáticas : el conocimiento indígena del medio ambiente, la educación, la producción y el consumo sostenibles, la preservación del patrimonio cultural y natural y el papel de las mujeres indígenas.
El mensaje clave que la UNESCO quiere hacer constar es que l as lenguas indígenas y sus sistemas de pensamiento representan una fuente valiosa de conocimientos para el desarrollo sostenible, la consolidación de la paz y los procesos de reconciliación en la sociedad . Estas lenguas contienen información importante en los ámbitos medioambientales, educativos, económicos, sociales y políticos. Tienen el potencial de beneficiar a la humanidad en su conjunto. Estos conocimientos pueden aportar soluciones originales a los problemas contemporáneos, incluido el cambio climático, ya que los pueblos indígenas desempeñan un papel muy importante en la preservación de las zonas naturales, así como en la consolidación de la paz y la reconciliación.

Conocimientos sobre ecología de los pueblos indígenas
Los bosques representan el 30 por ciento
de la superficie de la Tierra,
proporcionando hábitats vitales para
millones de especies e importantes
fuentes de aire puro y agua limpia.
Contribuyen a la preservación de la
biodiversidad, además de ser el hogar de
varias poblaciones indígenas. Además,
los océanos cubren tres cuartas partes
de la superficie de la Tierra y más de
tres mil millones de personas, incluidos
los grupos indígenas, que a menudo
dependen de la biodiversidad marina y
costera para su subsistencia.
Las lenguas de los pueblos indígenas se crean gracias a su entorno – son sus intentos de describir su entorno los que forman la base de sus lenguas únicas. Sociedades Sostenibles
Las lenguas locales fomentan y promueven
las especificidades culturales,
costumbres y valores locales que han
perdurado durante miles de años. Entre
las comunidades indígenas, los ancianos
transmiten a las generaciones más
jóvenes sistemas éticos y de valores
increíblemente ricos que apoyan la
solidaridad y la igualdad en la
sociedad. Los pueblos indígenas, y los
ancianos en particular, garantizan la
preservación de las lenguas indígenas
transmitiéndolas oralmente, a través de
canciones, costumbres y tradiciones. Es
a través de los idiomas que las
comunidades sostenibles continúan
existiendo y construyéndose, y que los
valores y habilidades indígenas que
fomentan la protección y salvaguarda del
patrimonio cultural y natural local se
transmiten de generación en generación.

menudo sufren discriminación y violencia
