• The Lexicographic Corpus of Mapudungun (CORLEXIM), the first free accessible Mapudungun on-line corpus, was initially established to provide the linguistic resources and tools needed to conduct the research associated to two different PhD theses currently being developed at the Universitat Pompeu Fabra:

  Andrés Chandía . Dungupeyem : morphological analyzer and generator for Mapudungun with finite state transducers. Directed by Toni Badia and Ineke Smeets . Departament de Traducció i Cienciès del Llenguatge .

  Belén Villena Araya. Innovación léxica en mapudungún: genuinidad, productividad y planificación. Directed by Teresa Cabré and Fernando Zúñiga . Institut Universitari de Lingüística Aplicada .

  Beyond its initial goal, CORLEXIM is also intended to facilitate and promote free access to the largest available collection of lexicographic resources in the Mapudungun language with the goal of stimulating research, as well as the development of teaching-learning materials in order to promote and improve its study. In the not too distant future, we expect to be able to incorporate additional dictionaries, lexical lists and other types of textual resources (copyright law permitting).

  CORLEXIM incorporates eight different bilingual dictionaries: four Mapudungun-Spanish, three Spanish-Mapudungun and one Mapudungun-English. These dictionaries are listed bellow:

  Valdivia, L. de (1606). Vocabulario de la lengua de Chile compuesto por el Padre Luys de Valdivia de la Compañia de Jesus. Arte y gramatica general de la Lengva qve corre en todo el Reyno de Chile, con vn Vocabulario, y Confessonario. Compuestos por el Padre Luys de Valdiuia de la Compañia de Iesus en la Prouincia del Piru.   The first seven lexicographic works were written by catholic Missionaries during the period 1606 to 1916. The Mapudungun-English dictionary is part of Ineke Smeets' PhD thesis, published under the title "A Grammar of Mapuche" in 2008. In total, the number of entries included in this corpus is 35.449, many of which present one or more subentries.
