Sámi Film Screening for school children / Sámi National Day
University of Lapland is celebrating the Sámi National Day by organising a film screening of Sámi films to school children. The event will be held on Wednesday, February 2 in Polarium Hall of Arktikum in Rovaniemi, Finland . The event is to raise awareness, recognition and interest on Sámi language and culture. The event aims also to support the Sámi identity of Sámi people in urban areas.
The program includes two film screenings: Moomins and the Winter Wonderland and Sámiblood. Also, Sámi Education Institute organises a lecture “Sámi culture lesson LIVESTREAM” during the event.
The film screenings are free of charge, but registration is required in advance. Schools and day nurserys can book seats by email raija.kivilahti@ulapland.fi.
Student teachers are organising workshops on Sámi culture and language in schools during the week 7. Registration to them by email riikka.partanen@ulapland.fi.
